Welcome to the Official Website of the MINERAL WELLS Volunteer Fire Department
STATION 40 41 Years of Service
The Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department serves the Wood County, West Virginia communities of Pettyville, Mineral Wells, Bonnivale and Slate along with unincorporated areas of south Parkersburg. The department provides Fire, Rescue and EMS Rapid Responder services in a coverage area which includes the main thoroughfares of Interstate 77, WV 14 and CO 21. Station 40 is one of eleven (10 volunteer / 1 career) fire departments in Wood County.
Originally founded in 1969 as the P.M.B.S. (Pettyville, Mineral Wells, Bonnivale, Slate) Volunteer Fire Department, the department name was officially changed to Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department in 2001. The original P.M.B.S. logo is incorporated into the present logo, reflecting the proud history of the department's first 32 years. During 2009, we are celebrated our 40th Anniversary.
MWVFD has an ISO Class 5 rating, and strives to be one of the more progressive departments in the area. Our roster of 18 members includes 2 charter members, and 1 Junior Firefighter. Apparatus consists of two Engines, a Tanker/Engine, Rescue, EMS Response Squad, Brush truck and HazMat Response trailer.
We are proud recipients of three Assistance to Firefighter Grants from the federal government over the past five years.
The department is supported by an active Ladies Auxiliary group, whose services are invaluable. Affiliate membership is available to individuals who want to "lend a hand" in non-firefighting, support roles.
The department's Fire Prevention program has a strong presence in the community.
Weekly meetings and training sessions are held on Tuesdays at 7:00pm.
If you would like to take a look around or obtain information about joining, feel free to stop by our station located at 1695 Elizabeth Pike (WV 14 south) in Mineral Wells.
